Mystery Girl

This is my entry for Paint Party Friday. I missed last week and wanted to try and get back into the groove again. This one started as a sketch on paper and then just went from there. I had these textured papers I made from the 21 Secrets journaling class and decided to work on one of those. It is a recycled magazine page, of all things, with gesso, lots of gel medium, paints, inks and whatever else I could think of added to it.

I call her my Mystery Girl. I'm not sure what to think of her. I can't say I trust her really. Once you start to look at her you get an uneasy vibe. Better trust your first instinct! ;)

Make sure to check out all of the other entries for PPF. You'll find so much talent, inspiration and cool art waiting for you!

She does give off that uneasy vibe. I don't know how to put it. Like the moment you went to pass her, she would turn and grab you. Love it though.

PS- Stop over at my place. There's something for ya there.

I love 21 Secrets, and working with magazine pages (Alma Stoller's class). It's fun to see what one can make of them!

Your elegant mystery woman in her fur coat is beautiful! I think the raven on her shoulder and the gnarled tree are nice touches and add to the mystery. I love the contrast of the lavender colors in the background.

Yes she is mysterious, but I really like this piece. Love the crow on her shoulder. This could be fabulous on a book cover for a mystery novel. Happy PPF! :-)

Hi Pam, I really like this piece. The dark against the colored background creates a wonderful feeling. The little bit of skin we see draws me in.

Puck, I think she can be trusted, it looks to me like she is protecting or hiding something...I love how this gives the feeling that you have dug deep into your soul allowing it to spill out on canvas...beautiful

Mystery girl is a great name for her. Who is she looking back at? Why is she half hiding? Lots of stories buried here. I like the black tree silhouette against the purple too!

Interesting how we all have different interpretations of her attitude (from anger to fear) and yet we all agree on the mystery part. :)

Thanks for all your enthusiastic comments on my different works.

See looks like the kind of girl who knows where to get into trouble! I love how brooding this piece is-- with her intense gaze and those branches creeping in. Beautiful!

I'm not sure I'd trust her either, but she definitely is fascinating. The bird is like a bad omen... argh, I usually don't believe in stuff like that, but here I feel a bit Hitchcock. The background is gorgeous btw, I love those colors. All in all, I think this is a wonderful painting.
