End of Winter

8" x 8", Mixed Media

"On winter's margin, see the small birds now
With half-forged memories come flocking home..."
--Mary Oliver
from her poem, "On Winter's Margin"

This is a small painting I started a few weeks ago while playing with my oil paints. I'm really attracted to working with the oils again. I finished it using oil pastels. It makes me happy.

I will link this to Paint Party Friday when it goes live. Have a great weekend everybody!

Hi Pam. Hope you are doing good. Love that color blue in the hillside. The bird of the blue is also striking. It's beautiful. Those are heartfelt words from Mary Oliver. Have a great day.

Thank you everyone! <3

Linda, oils scared me for a long time. Then I found out about the odorless spirits. No worries about fumes!

Just remember if you use linseed oil to soak your rag in water and dispose in a separate container outside. Rags with linseed oil can spontaneously combust if not soaked in water first.

Those contrasty colours and clear outlines make it look very impressive and powerful. Gladly winter's over : )
