Discovery

This is a piece I did a few years ago when I was experimenting with adding CitraSolv to National Geographic magazine pages. I have a nice stash now and frequently add them to my paintings and collages. Here I've also added some gold leaf along with some copper and bronze pigments. Then I covered the entire canvas in resin. That's the glare you see on the edge of the canvas. After I finished, I thought the round piece looked like it could be a stone. The entire thing reminded me of an excavation site so I named it Discovery.

This week in the Summer of Color we are working with yellow (or shades of it). I hope to have some new pieces to show in the coming weeks. Things are finally slowing down on the landscaping and I'll be able to get back to my painting. ;)

Sugar Creek: Thank you! The only place I can find mine locally is at the health food stores. You can also get it online at this link: http://stampington.com/html/citrasolv.html

This is something that I would hang on the wall of my living room. I love it!!
The earthly colours with the stone looking piece and the old looking writing works together as if it was meant to be that way.

Ah, Pam, this is so beautiful. Unfortunately, we don't have citrasolv here in the Philippines, as most of mixed media knick knacks that you use :( I had to have most of them shipped from the US or elsewhere. I want that!!!

Your piece is lovely - the texture, the addition of the writing and definitely the old stone (or metal) looking disc makes the whole piece. It looks like it has some shine - is it covered with gloss glaze? How large is it? Gorgeous!

How creative, Pam.

What a great way to recycle NG - they are too precious to just toss out and this is so amazing.

I see so much in this piece - angels, the galaxy, planets, explosions of solar energy - it's very energizing - truly a brilliant piece of creation.

I just so enjoy your site - the energy and life that flows off the page is like getting my batteries recharged.

Cheers, Jenny
