Hope
What's the use
of something
as unstable
and diffuse as hope--
the almost-twin
of making do,
the isotope
of going on:
what isn't in
the envelope
just before
it isn't:
the always tabled
righting of the present.

This is another of my encaustic paintings. It's also my (pink) entry for this week's Summer of Color, although I'm a little late for the party.
We literally had two tons of gravel delivered to the house and are going back for more! So I've been shoveling gravel and doing a lot of work outside. That doesn't leave much time for art at the end of the day. :( I'm finding that I'm not as young as I used to be and when the evening comes I seem to want to just take it easy now (not to mention the sore muscles)! Hopefully this last load will be the end of it and I can get back to my painting. ;)

I think your encaustic painting is quite beautiful Pam. I love the colours. I'd love to have it on my wall! Hugs June xx
This is beautiful and I love how it "moves". I've wanted to give that a try it looks like fun!
Oh I know what you mean about shoveling rock..that is a JOB!!
Love this pinks and the blue makes it extra special. Just beautiful! And take some rest, Pam. You deserve it. :)

I love your encaustic paintings they're beautiful especially this one.
It's gorgeous! The textures are amazing! The colors are stupendous! I guess I like it.
By the way, I'd be dead after shoveling just a couple of shovels full of gravel. You must be Wonder Woman!
I love your encaustic. Colors are beautiful.Take it easy with the gravel. I've been through that and need to do our pathways again. I swear the earth eats my gravel as I sleep.LOL
Beautiful painting, Pam, and I love the quote. Have a good rest now, sounds like you need it! Valerie
I won't even pretend to know what "encaustic" means, but I love the depth and texture of this piece. The shapes are amazing. It kind of looks like one of those NASA renderings of an exploding galaxy or something. Very nice!
delicious image - so alive!
This is beautiful. I love the way that the colors dance and swirl around each other.
Someday I would love to try encaustic painting. I looks like it would be a lot of fun.
Good luck with the outside work.
Fabulous infusion of colours Pam and a great quote, so fitting. Oooh you must be aching like mad, but it will obviously look fab when finished. Annette x
Hi Pam,
I know about the shoveling... I have planted over 75 plants and spread bark and soil for the past 3 weeks ( a different kind of creativity )! Love this study in Pink and the Ryan poem. I have her book on my iPad and read a little bit every day. She is hard for me to understand sometimes but I keep at it and re- read and see new things each time in her work. Love your inspiration in this piece!
hope...the ever elusive ghost..

Bill: No, not Wonder Woman, Dead Woman if I have to do too much more. ;)
Pat: Thank you! They DO have that look about them, don't they? :)
Lori: Kay Ryan is quickly becoming one of my new favorite poets (I have so many)! I find such inspiration in her words.
David: Thank you, as always! ;)
Hi Pam! what beautiful shades of pink! you've created a gorgeous piece!
I am speechless. I love, love this piece.
I have seen many wonderful pink pieces made, but I think that this one is the one I like the most.
I HOPE you can get done with your house improvements and dedicate more time to painting.
I absolutely love your pink painting! It's abstract and full of movement, subtle but energetic. I've never tried encaustic - but I'm seeing lots of it out there so might give it a try. Yours is just the inspiration I need!
