It's Always Darkest Just Before The Dawn
-- Kay Ryan

But how dark
is darkest?
Does it get
jet -- or tar --
black; does it
glint and increase
in hardness
or turn viscous?
Are there stages
of darkness
and chips
to match against
its increments,
holding them
up to our blindness,
estimating when
we'll have the
night behind us?

I'm having to deal with some hard lessons this week. I hope you're having a much better time of it! Hope to be back in the swing of things soon.

You'd never see the stars without the dark.

Of course, you wouldn't trip over the damned dog in the dark and fall on your ass and have matching bruises on each shoulder from ping-ponging down the hall and crashing into the door frame, either...

But hey - stars...

The beauty of your art certainly does not betray whatever you are going through. Your friends are always with you in spirit even though we can't be with you in person.

Pam your painting is really beautiful. I love that you made her with white hair, usually focus is on the young... it is so refreshing to see a more mature beautiful woman. Her eyes are serene but sorta haunting. I hope whatever lesson you've had to learn here doesn't stick around and bright skies are returning soon :)

Nice work, in spite of how you're feeling. Long walks help me when I'm stressed out. Wishing you better days soon.

Close your eyes and see the light - let that which hides inside be what guides you.
Sometimes it's easier to enjoy the blackness and see that it's just another kind of light.

You're such an inspiration and I so very much enjoy your work and writings - there is always such strength in willing to be vulnerable and to face the things that challenge us.

Feel the hug being sent your way.
It's a big hug, just in case you weren't sure.

Since I'm coming by two days after your posting, I sincerely hope things are better fr you now. I had a horrible week too- I swear the week before a full moon is always off for me! Anyway, I love this piece as much as I love all your work. You have the most amazing ability to wring deep emotions with something as simple as color and words. Thank you so much for this!

Happy birthday, Pam ☺
You really have a way with words...this poem is brilliant! Also, I have to mention the gray hair...hair is always so difficult for me and you scored with it! Hope things turn around soo for you. ♥♥

I love the title of this piece. I identified immediately with the graying of the hair and 'acceptance' is such an empowering word. Gorgeous art Pam - you are a master of expression . Hope you are feeling better- take some time for yourself!

Darkness is my favorite theme in poetry. Maybe because I believe that there is lots of light hidden in the dark. One has to be willing to search to find it though...
