I have been back from my trip for a couple of days now. It was a wonderful time with my friend! As always, it was hard to say goodbye :'( But we've already made plans for spring. And there is MUCH to look forward to this summer, including many trips to her place up on Lake Erie. :)
One thing I really noticed on this trip home was my tendency to not view things in the proper perspective. I do need to work on that. It can become quite an eye opener when you lose your way on this one...
But I DID have myself a little adventure at Blick Art Supply. I went in there with my eyes wide open! Came out with lots of goodies: encaustic paint in many new colors to try, more acrylic paints in colors I can never find (graphite, cobalt blue, stainless steel!) and my favorite 2" cradled panels...FUN! :) Oh, and an over-sized Moleskine sketchbook. Yay! This is my first page from that journal.
And after the Blick adventure we made our way to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. That was probably my favorite day of the trip. That cheesecake was absolutely sinful and I loved every bite. Hmm... looking back on it now, there were a FEW things I managed to keep in the proper perspective. ;)

Glad you made it home safely.
Love the birds.
Rabbit: Thanks! You know me and this thing I have with the birds. ;)
Sounds like a great trip and you sound uplifted and inspired (cheesecake will do that). This is a gorgeous journal page. It has a quiet depth and thoughtfulness about it. Beautiful art Pam!
Go ahead. Rub it in. Dick Blick. Dick Blick. Then the Cheesecake Factory. If you don't watch it, you won't fit into your dress for the royal wedding!
Lori: Thank you, as always. ;) Yes, the trip was very uplifting and I feel renewed and ready to make some more art!
Bill: LOL! Well, I can just about guarantee that I won't fit into my dress after this week!! ;)
sounds like a good trip in more ways than one...glad you are back.
hugs puck
David: Thank you! I had a great time and it's good to be back home. ;)
PP - I miss you TOO MUCH already, my dearest sister friend. Love the art - thinking I may see your symbolism in this one. Keep it coming and get back here soon!
Sharona
Sharona: Oh, I miss you too!! You know that! Yes, I'm SURE you see the symbolism in the art. We talked about this particular issue enough this past week. ;)
I'm already looking forward to the next trip and more late night/early morning chats, followed by our many, many laughs!
BIG HUGS to you sister friend! LOVE ya!!
I love visiting your site - there's such a warm and inviting feel here - like family (think happy family)
I'm pleased for you that you and your friend had a lovely time together.
As to picking up some wonderful art supplies - one can never have too many oversized moleskins (so my daughter tells me - I keep her supplied in them) She draws, I write. (or pretend too)
As to one's perspective on life - it is an ever evolving skill for me to keep things in perspective. But then I always ask who's perspective is it anyway?
Happy your back,
Jenny
What a great experience it could be to have such great variety of perspectives like birds. Good to hear you want to keep your eyes open!
Jenny: I'm so glad to hear this site feels welcoming! That's my goal! I feel the same about your site: welcome to drop in any time and there is ALWAYS an interesting chat going on!
Yes, the trip was heavenly! I swear my friend and I were sisters in another life.
Moleskines...when I finally found the over sized ones, I did a happy dance. Been looking for those forever! How cool that you both have your own uses!
Perspective...been struggling with that one for a long time. My own does get a little out of whack. My tendency to "fantasize" rather than see things as they really are. You're right, though. Ever evolving! ;)
Martin: Ah, wouldn't it, though! Yes, working on keeping those eyes OPEN! ;)
Welcome back1 I love Moleskines...love adore, addicted :) I especially love this one, Pam. It makes me pensive :)
Mice: Good to be back home! Yes, Moleskines.. a special treat! And thank you. I keep coming back to this one, myself. ;)
i think that journal page is one of my favorites so far of the works you've shared.
Ven: Thanks so much! I'm glad to hear that! :)
I'm glad you had a nice and safe trip! I also LOVE the birds on the wire!!! The whole piece is really nice, but those birds are awesome!
