Today is the first day for Paint Party Friday. This is a painting I have been working on so I thought I would put it in today's party. :) It's 8" x 8" acrylic on canvas. I've been wanting to do another abstract and these colors were calling to me. I love the Cobalt Teal and the Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold...YUMMY!! Those are probably my favorite colors that Golden makes. I think I have a good stash of these two colors for a while. ;)
I like to clip phrases from vintage poetry books and then use them in my art journals. I put them in a little baggie and when I'm searching for inspiration I'll look through the baggie and see what sounds good. They also come in handy as titles for my art. As I was looking through the bag, the phrase "discordant echoes" caught my eye. I just liked the sound of it and thought it sounded like a good theme. So I took it from there and this is what I ended up with.
Check out the link to Paint Party Friday to visit the blogs and see all of the paintings. It should be a good time! I'm excited to see what everyone did this week.

Oh WOW, I love this! I typically do very realistic pieces and that's probably why abstract art sings to me so loudly! These colors are incredible and I love the way you balanced them with the whites and greys- gorgeous and you're so right; YUMMY!
Ooooh - the texture in this is sooo good... and your color combination is wonderful. (I totally agree with the yummy comment!)
Thank you so much for partying with us!

p.s. your title is really cool too - I like lour baggie method of inspiration!
mmmmI really like your art you show here on your blog. I found your blog through Paint Party Friday.
This is really great, very nice :)
Pam! I love this one..I really enjoyed just gazing at it..and absorbing it, taking it in..it brings me to a place where things are moving into Harmony..like a shift about to happen. I love the whole piece..I love the larger orbs/circles..like the hemispheres of the brain..trying to align back together...such an exploratory piece..I cannot help but feel a sense of harmony in motion....perhaps my affinity for circular shapes. This is wonderful! It feels like the kind of piece that is interactive..and depending on how you are feeling that day..will alter how you experience it! Loved this piece! Shine on!!
Beautiful!!

Wow this is just fantastic! I love the way you choose your titles and inspiration. That in itself is an inspiration. I can never quite think of good titles for my art. Many times I just number them. :-)
This is gorgeous, I love abstracts but for some reason they elude me. You colors are very lovely, I like the quinacridone colors also.
Wonderful idea for inspiration and a truly striking piece! Lovely!!!
I keep wanting to do abstracts and they turn out more realistic than intended. Yours is spectacular!
So happy you could come to the party!!
I love the textures in this piece. I want to touch it! :-)
Pam this is quite lovely. I love your idea of keeping the clippings from poetry in a baggie for inspiration. The name definitely fits the piece.
I really think the title goes great with the paintings. Lots of texture and soft color. Great piece. Enjoy PPF!
I love the feeling through the texture of colors ....
Hugs
I like how you gather inspiration...in your little baggie. that's a really good idea.
your painting is sooo fun! I like the colors and shapes of this abstract....nice work, here, too!
OH PUCK! Just when I think I can't possibly lust after another of your pieces you go and post this most amazing art work...it is true love!
hugs and light.
Nice! I'm a fan of the teal -- it looks like your painting has a nice patina to it! Very lovely and sophisticated!
Hi Pam! I am loving this piece. It just makes me want to look at it for a long time. Wish I could see it in person. Abstract is so hard to do and I always admire those artists who do them as well as you. Beautiful piece! Happy PPF!
I'm not usually for abstract paintings, but for some reason, this piece of yours really gets my attention. You're right, the colours are amazing and the way the texture is....it's as if it's reaching out and it grabs ahold of the soul. I really like it! :)
Discordant Echoes ...what a lovely name for a lovely soft but strong abstract....the message could be universally varied upon the observer's interpretation of this piece. The color tones of gold and teal marry beautifully and I adore the way you came about the abstract and it's name....Gorgeous work and very inspirational.

I love abstract pieces like this. The texture and colors are lovely. I would love to learn how to do abstract pieces like this one.
oh I love a good abstract, this one's really good. Thanks for sharing.
this piece reminds me of that great big full moon that's coming up this weekend. ^_^
I love the idea of your inspiration bag!
This is a beautiful dreamy painting that seemed to fuel my imagination as I gazed at it.
Kat :-)
Your work is stunning! I'm just looking through all the other bloggers' work on PPF and it's great just how different and varied everyone is!
Beautiful work! I do love those colors together and the balance in this piece. The title is perfect as well. I can't wait to see what you do next!
Lovely texture in this and the tones you have used work beautifully with the white, lovely piece! And lovely to 'meet' you :0)
Gorgeous! I really love the colors.
We share a love of the same colors! I am in love with this abstract piece, Beautiful!
Yep, I'm jealous again. It's beautiful! The colors are absolutely fantastic, and the texture draws us right in. Wonderful work.
I am also a fan of GOLDEN :) I am adoring your texture, Pam. I do not understand abstract...they talk in babbles to me...but I like looking at it :)
Hi! Stopping here with my glass of vino and taking a look. Very nice!
Really nice Pam! If only I had the talent to participate! Alas...
It's no wonder I like this so much. On last weekends trip to the art store, I bought a new journal, some Golden's Cobalt Teal, and I wanted the Quin Azo Gold but they were out. I also love Golden's Burnt Orange.
I Love how you choose the title for your inspiration for this piece, very creative!
the title does fit prefectly!!! I love your painting. Have never tried an abstract... this is inspiring... may have to tackle one now!
cheers, dana
Thank you everyone for your comments! I really appreciate it. For everyone at PPF, I am still working my way through the list but I WILL get to you all! :)
Love this, great painting... nice to meet you..
Ooo, Pam! This piece speaks so much...I love abstract and communicating via color and form. I'm like you--i go goo goo over colors! Great journal work, too. I just peeked around a bit and really like your style and art! Nice to meet you at the Paint Party :)
ooooh I absolutely love the abstract pieces you create..I've been having a little look through your last posts and have been drooling! Love the texture and your wonderful use of colours....yuuuuuumy :)
